The End

This course has really helped me to improve on my skills as a writer. I have progressed with the help of Megan and my peers but also with the help of myself. English is definitely not my topic and I usually have a hard time writing, but I find it somewhat easier with the conclusion of this class. Hopefully, this will be true when it comes to my research paper. Before this class, I didn't really pay attention to the way that sex, love, and romance were presented in the media. I also didn't realize how it affects most of society in today's world. However, after this class I am able to notice the myths that are presented in the show and I am also able to understand how/why this affects society. Blogging has definitely been a different experience for me. I have never really blogged before so it was new to me. I'm unsure of how I feel about blogging and whether or not it helps. I know that some people blog because writing out what he/she are thinking can help to reduce stress. However, I am not sure about that because the thought of typing my thoughts out just stresses me out. Maybe if I didn't have to blog for class, my feelings would be different. All in all, I enjoyed this class, I've enjoyed my peers, and I've enjoyed the topic.

  1. Lauren,
I agree with you on the blogging standpoint. I enjoyed writing stuff out for this class when I had a purpose to write, but I don't think I would be comfortable enough to write out my thoughts and feelings just for everyone to read. It feels really invasive or something.

I also agree with you about sex, love and romance in the media. Now I see these things everywhere, when before I did not notice them at all. I think it is really nice to be more aware of what is going on in shows/movies I watch.

It was nice to have a class with you, and meet you as well! You always had good comments and I felt like we could bounce ideas off of each other and come to a fuller understanding of topics. I hope we will see each other again after this class is done!

  2. Lauren,

I like how you talk about blogging, since it is such a key part of this class, yet we kind of don't think about it because our blogs are so small compared to our papers... I can't tell if I like blogging either. Part of my likes it sometimes, but the other part of me didn't because if I had nothing to say, writing the blog was so much harder. I wonder if I had my own blog if I'd enjoy that, where I could talk about whatever I wanted, because some of the things we've had to talk about here I don't care about, so I feel like my writing couldn't be as good compared to if I were writing about something I'm passionate about.
I think we should be asked to fulfill a quota of blogs throughout the survey and are given some "example" topics, but we don't have to write JUST about things in class.. Just a thought!

I had fun having class with you roomie!
